Description

Since the 1970s, a strange subset of movie musicals has fascinated film buffs and casual viewers alike. These films, dubbed "cult musicals", were unlike the romantic, swooning musicals of old - instead, they were pulpy, bloody, sexually charged, and obsessed with rock and roll. They taught us to do the Time Warp, reminded us of the babe (what babe?), and proved that all in all, it's just another brick in the wall. Then, in the early 2000s, the genre vanished. Now, as the first signs of a possible rebirth are starting to show, it's about time someone went back and asked the biggest question of all: "why did this happen?"
