Description

Stereotypes about librarians are prevalent in society in various forms in the media and all around us. Yet, the stereotypes are commonly not representative of diversity in librarianship. Are librarians who are POC included in these stereotypes? Do they want to be? This interactive presentation will explore how POC benefit from not fitting the stereotypes; as well as, challenges they may encounter. We will explore the literature and images related to librarians of color and stereotypes and engage the participants in a discussion on the subject.
