Description
Your favorite film can tell a lot about you. I became interested in a survey of my peers’ favorite movies when, in the spring of 2015, I watched the favorite movies of three of my friends for the first time and was blown away by how I could see certain themes and ideas from the film reflected in the personalities of my friends. This study would conduct an investigation of LMU students’ favorite films on a larger scale. I intend to find 100 students (50 film majors and 50 non-film majors) to individually conduct a video interview with me during which I ask them about a film that they consider to be one of their favorites, and one that they believe partially defines them as a person. Following the interviews, I will also gather data on their chosen films regarding their release, core crew, and critical and popular reception. I will look for popular trends in my responses and refer to background research regarding film theory and popular entertainment to see how my results are similar or different.
