Description

The film industry is an ever-changing and expanding industry. With the rise of streaming services in the last decade, content is readily available to consumers at all times. Business decisions have to adapt to reflect this new model of consumption. These decisions are important to film and industry studies researchers attempting to understand the industry. They include marketing plans, business models, and decisions about greenlighting and renewal of content. However, none of this information is publicly available to researchers. My research will attempt to understand why this information is kept secret and, ultimately, how these decisions are made at an executive level. I will apply this information to further understand the industry and how these decision processes affect diverse media.
