Description

This interactive timeline is a project of the Inclusive History and Images Project (IHIP) and curated by the IHIP Steering Committee. The timeline highlights important events, milestones, and challenges that historical oppressed communities at LMU have led and experienced. Research for the timeline was originally done by students of Professor Marne Campbell's African American History 3211 class in Spring 2026. Each moment of student courage, key milestone, and equity initiative that span several decades mark critical times when our most vulnerable communities rose up to collectively move the university towards inclusion. The timeline addresses important gaps in understanding our own institutional history and provides motivation for LMU to continually reflect and become a more equitable community in the years to come.

The Inclusive History and Images Project (IHIP) has been funded in part by the Network for Vocation in Higher Education (NetVUE) and the Grace Nixon Foundation.
