The Loyola Marymount University William H. Hannon Library is pleased to announce our seventh annual Undergraduate Library Research Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize and reward LMU undergraduate students whose research makes expert and creative use of the services, resources, and collections of the William H. Hannon Library to produce a scholarly or creative work. For 2013, a prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the first place undergraduate project, and $450 to two honorable mentions.

New this year is a $1,000 award for best group project; all group members will share the prize equally. Group project applications will follow the same procedures as individual applications and will be evaluated using the same criteria.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the 2013 "Individual" Undergraduate Library Research Award, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled at Loyola Marymount University as an undergraduate student in any class level. All disciplines are eligible. Groups and teams are not eligible; individuals only.
  • Have completed and submitted an original research project for an LMU credit course during Spring 2012, Summer 2012, or Fall 2012. Works from Spring 2013 will also be considered, but the paper/project must be complete by the submission deadline. Revising and improving a previously submitted and graded research project is allowed and encouraged..
  • Agree to contribute the project to the permanent collection of the Loyola Marymount University Library.

To be eligible for the 2013 "Best Group Project" category:

  • All group members must be currently enrolled at Loyola Marymount University as an undergraduate student in any class level. All disciplines are eligible.
  • Have completed and submitted an original research project for an LMU credit course during Spring 2012, Summer 2012, or Fall 2012.   • Winner notification: April 24, 2013
  • Award reception – April 30, 2013 from 5:00-6:00pm in the Von der Ahe Suite (Library, 3rd floor)
