Description
There are over one and a half million Greek Orthodox Christians in America. Join members of LMU's Resident Ministry Team in experiencing the extraordinary beauty and rich cultural traditions of the Eastern Orthodox Divine Liturgy at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The Divine Liturgy is a Eucharistic service. It contains two parts: the Liturgy of the Catechumens, sometimes called the Liturgy of the Word, at which the Scriptures are proclaimed and expounded, and the Liturgy of the Faithful, sometimes called the Liturgy of the Eucharist, in which the gifts of bread and wine are offered and consecrated. After the Liturgy, there will be ample time to explore the grounds of the Cathedral as well as the culturally vibrant Byzantine-Latino Quarter. The visit will be followed by a traditional Greek lunch at Papa Cristo's.
