Abstract
Saudi Arabia is an historic country, and her past goes back from the beginning of the emergence of humans on earth. There are many civilizations that have lived in the area. The most fact about Saudi Arabia is that it was the birthplace of Islam and home to Islam's two holiest shrines: Mecca and Madinah.
Unfortunately, the contribution of tourism income to GDP is just 2.9% or 22.8 billion. A tourist system is not developed and suffers from a lot of obstacles. For example, Saudi Arabia does not issue a tourist visa which makes Saudi Arabia one of the most difficult countries to visit on the earth. Another problem is the lack of infrastructures such as hotels, resorts, museums and entertainment venues. However, improving the tourist system will increase the income of the country, and this will create a lot of jobs. Other benefits are that tourists will increase the level of openness, tolerance, and will decrease fundamentalism. Most importantly, the impact of tourism up will break stereotyping.
