Description
The scientific community’s knowledge on the disease type 2 diabetes mellitus is lacking. There are treatments for the disease, but a cure is nowhere in sight due to the lack of understanding of the pathogenesis of this disease. Of course, there is a wide variety of research currently being preformed in the pursuit of this understanding. Two areas of interest to both my mentor I are IAPP sequences and T2DM in other mammalian species. In our research we would like to combine these two areas of research and answer the question, “what similarities are there between the IAPP sequences of various mammalian species that are affected by type 2 diabetes mellitus?”
