Description
Through a multiple correlational study, I plan to access the relationship between trauma, empathy, and connection to music. Previous studies have found that the emotional response people experience while listening to music is linked to personal engagement with empathy. Previous studies have also shown that trauma victims exhibit a higher engagement with empathy. Using the THQ, BEES, and AES-M self-report scales, this study plans to conduct a multiple regression analysis to assess the relationship between the three. It is predicted that participants with higher scores in trauma and empathy will also report themselves to have a stronger emotional response to music. It is also predicted that the relationship between trauma and emotional response to music is mediated by empathy.
