Abstract
The singular value decomposition is a factorization of a rectangular matrix that reveals the essential structure of that .matrix. The singular value decomposition is a valuable tool that has applications in many fields including weather prediction, signal processing, data compression, and pattern recognition. This project applied the singular value decomposition to Los Angeles exit poll results from the November 2008 election to discover Angelinos general political views, structural voting patterns, and other latent information.
