Abstract
Over the course of 10 weeks, I rehearsed, researched, and prepared for a role in LMU’s production of The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe. This Pulitzer Prize nominated play, written in 2016, tells the story of a girls high school club soccer team through their weekly pregame warmups. Fast-paced, casual dialogue keeps the show moving fast as the nine unique team members deal with high school drama: jealousy, fitting in, eating disorders, lost sense of self, toxic friendships, and more. After auditioning in August 2019, I received the role of #2. As preparation for the role, and for my senior thesis, I kept a journal both as an actor and as my character throughout the entire process, additionally noting research about the setting and my character’s experiences. The show was performed November 1-3 & 6-9, 2021, in the Barnelle Theatre at Loyola Marymount University. This document contains pictures of the program, from the rehearsal process, and of the show itself.
