Abstract

For my thesis I directed Masquerade by Natalia Bermudez, a short play that deals with how fame and the ideals of Hollywood interfere with our relationships, perception of beauty, and sense of self. To capture the process of directing a new work, my thesis includes a formal pitch to the Theatre Department and a complete journal of my efforts. Other elements include research, script analysis, inspirational images, and scans of physical materials produced and utilized throughout the process. Masquerade was performed in the Barnelle Theater on April 27th and 29th, 2023.
