This oral history of Raul Mijares, recorded on June 27, 2023, discusses their personal journey navigating identity and spirituality in higher education, involvement in the Chicano Movement, athletics program, and the decision to discontinue football at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), and their role in creating scholarship programs. At the time of this interview, Margarita Ochoa was the Associate Professor and Associate Chair of History in the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). She was a first-generation Mexican American and first-generation college student.
