About This Journal

Say Something Theological (SST), published by the Department of Theological Studies of Loyola Marymount University (LMU), was founded by Dr. Cecilia González-Andrieu in 2017. In 2018, the structure of the editorial board changed and subsequent issues of SST have been entirely student led. For the 2024–2025 issue, Eryn Reyes Leong is the Editor-in-Chief with Peggy Ehling and Darya Jones serving as copy editors.

The idea for SST originated from Dr. Charlotte Radler and Dr. Jonathan Rothchild who wanted to offer an annual conference that would be a venue “for graduate students to share their research in progress, engage in dialogue with one another and with THST faculty, and to think deeply about the theological dimensions and pastoral implications of their work.” The conference is a space for students to express their theological voices and to engage in the professional presentation of their scholarly research. SST is a fruitful branch of the conference, offering a platform for students’ work to be published and shared with the greater community.

SST has become one of LMU's top journals. Since its inception, papers have been downloaded 31,555 times and 8,972 papers have been downloaded this past year. Readers hail from around the globe, from such countries as India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom. SST’s editorial team will continue the tradition of promoting rigorous standards in publishing and ensuring excellent theological research.
