Abstract
Often when I tell people I want to go into Assistant Directing, they quote one very specific statistic to me. While I’ve found no source for it, the statistic that the average life expectancy of assistant directors is 55 makes sense, after all, the job is notoriously stressful. This thesis will go through my mental state during and after production, advice from mentors in the DGA, and how I think I can take what I learned into my professional life post-grad.
