Abstract
Call Me When You Get There is a short film written and directed by Adelaide Burrows. The story follows a young girl in college, Julie, as she goes home for the weekend to visit her mother. Julie is struggling at school, having recently experienced a traumatic event. She wants to seek help from her mother, but the two women struggle to connect. Julie's mother only sees her as the child she once was. This film seeks to explore the complex and ever-changing relationship between mothers and daughters. How does this relationship evolve as both women continue to grow and learn in their own unique ways? Call Me When You Get There is a coming-of-age drama that explores themes of aging, loss of innocence, and family. With a leadership team consisting of primarily women, this film works to honestly portray a facet of the female experience and particularly this unique female relationship. The cinematography of Kiana Liu combined with directing from Adelaide Burrows creates a beautiful cinematic experience.
