Description
In Community Colleges, Equity funding is sometimes the only way programs for marginalized groups can be brought to fruition. In this presentation, a librarian--who serves as the faculty advisor for the Queer Student Club on their community college campus--will articulate the administrative process of applying for such funds. Along with this bureaucratic process, the presenter will explain the research efforts of gathering data on Queer-identified students and the drafting of a Disproportionate Impact study necessary to justify the need for Equity funds. The presenter will also speak on the experience of serving as a faculty advisor for a student club defined by sexual and gender identities and the intersectionality of student identities.
