Description
John DeSantis has been the Cataloging and Metadata Services Librarian at Dartmouth College since 1995, where he is also the Interim Head of Metadata Services. He has been a councilor-at-large on the Council of the American Library Association since 2004 and has served on several ALA Council committees and ALA divisional committees, as well as on the ALA Executive Board. He has been a continuing, and at times active, member of the Rainbow Round Table and its prior incarnations since 1991. He has also served as an OCLC Global Council delegate since 2011. John also served for eight years on IFLA's Standing Committee on Subject Analysis and Access, including two years as Chair. He is currently a member of IFLA’s Bibliography Standing Committee. John holds a Bachelor's degree in Russian, a Master's degree in Slavic Languages, and a Master's degree in Library Science all from the University of Toronto, where he also pursued doctoral studies in Polish. He is conversant in several Slavic and Romance languages and is a certified translator. He has spoken at many screenings and panels associated with the film Change the Subject.
