Abstract
Many of the fundamental concepts and applications of Hinduism have served as a model for sustainability for the people of India. Belief in the interconnectedness of humans and the cosmos; the moral precepts of yoga; and everyday practices, many inspired by Mohandas Gandhi’s view of self-sacrifice and active compassion, have guided Hindus’ way of life and hold promise for India’s future in the global economy.
