The Academic Resource Center has an annual writing contest showcasing the essays written by freshmen students who take our 1-unit writing lab in the fall semester. In this lab, a student meets weekly with the same writing tutor and works on assignments from the freshmen writing class. At the end of the semester, students are invited to submit an essay they have written in the class for the contest. The winning students each receive a $50 gift certificate and their tutors receive a $10 gift certificate.
